For a designation of a wild vine in European
and other languages use the unique term. It concerns also those
countries which use huge authority
as the countries - manufacturers a wine. In the Georgian language
exists eight name of a wild vine (krikina,
usurvazi, katabarda,
dzguamli, bundzgumi,
mortshula, burehi,
and shhurichi), that in itself
the important fact.
To establish, since what times there is in Georgia
a wild vine practical, is impossible, however, for this country
so good conditions for growth and developments are characteristic,
that the Black Sea coast of Transcaucasia should be fair must be
recognized as the native land of a wild vine.
As if to conversions of a wild vine into a cultural
plant the majority of a scientific of world do not put any more
under doubt, that this important event had places about 5 000 years
ago in territory of Georgia. This opinion was divided with such
authorities as: V.Hehn, K.Bazerman, P.Zhukovsky, A.Engler, L.Porte,
F.Rujsen, P.Viala, K.Koh, V.Gumbolt, D.Mendeleev, A.Negruli, S.Kolenat,
R.Braun ...
Analysis and Vavilov's conclusion which have
grown out of the researches which have been lead almost in seventy
countries are remarkable: " All world wine-making,
all basic assortment of a vine is imported from Georgia where till
our time the vine grows in wild conditions ..."
The Georgian wine and culture of a vine also
served as a subject of surprise for such antique authors, as Appolon from Rodos and
the Homere, Ksenofont and Strabon.
Last was so is admired with a Georgian wine that wrote: "
The vine in Georgia gives a fruit for the second year, for the second
year gives a plenty of fruits and fantastic gumos
". Prokofy from
Kesari openly recognized, that Georgia is the native land
of wine and from there culture of the vine spread in country of
the Europe. It especially emphasized that fact, that feasts at imperial
court yard of the East and the West decorated Georgian wines.
Found
out in Babylon the cuneiform inscription speaking about glory and
invincibility of assyrians even more impresses. Till IX century
of our era they were so are strong, that forced to render tribute
gold of many neighbours. As they say in inscriptions, unique exception
assyrians did for the georgians - a tributes from them took only
by wine.
In itself adequately pride that a word "wine",
spread in Europe and all over the world from the Georgian name of
this divine liquid - "gvino".
It to the modified form was fixed in many languages - "vin",
"wein", "vinum", "wine", "wain", "wine" ...
